ChoiceIQStories. Sources. Real tradeoffs.

The numbers need context.

We distinguish published facts, individual experiences, and your own calculator inputs. Unknown facts stay unknown. Arithmetic is never a school-quality rating.

A source and a year, or “Not published”.

Published numbers need a real source and reporting year. Aggregate shares also need a denominator or sample size, a reporting period, and a method. Missing values are never assumed to be zero. A published zero remains zero. An empty registry counts only profiles in this registry; it does not establish how many approved schools exist in a county.

County facts and derived statistics are separate reporting series. We identify their reporting periods instead of combining them. Unsupported figures are not headline statistics.

Coverage Score describes tuition arithmetic.

Coverage Score = $10,474 ÷ (annual tuition + required annual fees), capped at 100%; extras excluded. We show it only when tuition, required fees, a safe source URL, and a fee year are complete and the total is positive. Missing required fees are unknown, not free.

Source for the reference numerator: the official calculator configuration shown below, 2026–27. Each school’s fee source and fee year provide the denominator. This score does not measure academic quality, service availability, enrollment, individual eligibility, or an actual award. A 100% score does not cover uniforms, transport, meals, or other costs by itself.

The calculator uses each child’s own gap.

Annual cost includes tuition, required fees, uniforms, transport, and meals. The signed difference is cost minus the actual or modeled total TEFA award. Payable out of pocket is max(0, difference). Unused allocation is max(0, −difference), and is not a cash refund. Family payable is the sum of each child’s nonnegative payable amount; unused allocation is not transferred between children.

Private-school disability funding uses an actual total award, not an extra award stacked on the standard reference. Homeschool remains capped at its own allocation. These are scenarios for comparison; the calculator does not verify eligibility or whether a listed expense is reimbursable.

Official award references · 2026–27

Standard private-school reference: $10,474.00

Source: View source Year: 2026–27

Homeschool, up to: $2,000.00

Source: View source Year: 2026–27

Eligible private-school disability total, up to: $30,000.00

Source: View source Year: 2026–27

Use the actual total award, not an automatic $30,000 or an extra $30,000. Qualifying private-school disability funding depends on program rules and an eligible IEP. Homeschool remains capped at $2,000.

Stories reflect each family's own experience. Data is from public sources shown with each figure. ChoiceIQ does not recommend schools for individual children.

Service descriptions have limits.

Counselor, nurse, and special education service descriptions are attributed to the school’s wellbeing source. “No” is distinct from “Not published.” The registry has no wellbeing-year field; we show “Year: Not published” and do not reuse fee_year. Numeric wellbeing facts are withheld without a verifiable year. School descriptions do not guarantee suitability or services for a particular child.

A verified profile badge means the profile was marked verified in the registry. It is not a quality rating. The normal listing order is alphabetical by actual school name, regardless of sponsorship.

Registered references

These URLs are registered in the project’s source table. Registration does not mean an automated agent has checked or ingested them.

Stories are not research samples.

Story collections reflect the families who submit, approve, and retain consent for their stories. Monthly balance reporting counts only those eligible stories and labels n, period, source, and method. These counts are not estimates of school outcomes or the wider community.
